For the 11th time, the Pahang government today unveiled a surplus of RM2.19 million in the 2014 budget with thrusts on enhancing investment, welfare, financial management and human capital.

Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob said the state revenue was estimated at RM811 million which would be derived from land and minerals (RM275 million), forest (RM130 million), a federal grant (RM206 million) and other revenues (RM200 million).

He said Pahang would get a compassionate payment of RM100 million from the federal government for oil and gas discovery off the state which would be utilised for the benefit of the people.

Pahang proposes to allocate RM808.81 million to implement development programmes next year, he said when presenting the budget at Wisma Sri Pahang in Kuantan today.

“This allocation consists of RM638.66 million operating expenditure and RM74.50 million development expenditure obtained from state revenue and a federal loan of RM95.65 million loan,” he said.

He said RM638.66 million budgeted for operating expenses comprised RM499.64 million of spending limit, RM18.15 million (new policy) and RM120.87 million (one-off payment to Perbadanan Air Pahang Berhad).

“The budget set aside RM18.15 million under the new policy for civil servants’ salary increases and adjustments based on a circular issued,” he added.
