Umno rep queries 'people-friendliness' of Selangor gov't
Pointing to media reports of excessive compounds, land premiums and quit rent, Sungai Panjang assemblyperson Budiman Mohd Zuhdi questioned the “people-friendliness” of the Selangor government.
Pointing to media reports of excessive compounds, land premiums and quit rent, Sungai Panjang assemblyperson Budiman Mohd Zuhdi questioned the “people-friendliness” of the Selangor government.
“How can a makcik be compounded RM1,000 for hawking nasi lemak (in Sungai Panjang). If is it true that this hawker does not have a licence, why is there no awareness campaign targeting these small hawkers first?
“That is not the only thing in Sungai Pajang. Many complained to me that the quit rent has increased, supposedly not because the tax has increased but how it is assessed has changed,” Budiman (

In addition, he said some of his constituents were imposed land premiums as high as RM28,437 for 457 square metres of land for their home, while a ‘karaoke kampung’ operator that charged its patrons RM1 per song was fined RM50,000.
He was speaking during the debates on Selangor’s 2014 budget, which is themed ‘An Economic and High Impact Budget for the People’s Well-being’.
“These episodes are very saddening to the people. That is why when the word ‘well-being’ is repeated, it raises doubt and it raises questions,” he said.
