Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim owes Malaysians an apology over his allegation that 40,000 Bangladeshi nationals were brought in to vote in the May general election.

Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong said many voters were misguided by Anwar's action and it had also caused hardship to certain voters during the 13th general election.

NONE "It influenced so many people and so many Malaysians were unfairly treated that day, people were scolded just because their skin colour were darker and they were accused of being Bangladeshis.

"Anwar as a responsible opposition leader must apologise to the people of Malaysia because this sort of thing effected the election results," he told a press conference at the party's headquarters today.

Anwar was recently reported as having denied claiming that there were 40,000 Bangladeshi voters.

Meanwhile, Mah also announced the appointment of the Gerakan central committee members (2013-2016) comprising vice-presidents Raymond Tan Shu Kiah, Liew Yun Fah and Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai; secretary-general Liang Teck Meng; national treasurer Lim Si Pin; and organising secretary Lau Hoi Keong.

The other central committee members are Gordon Leong, Au Kam Wah, Dr Lee Chee Peng, Teng Chang Yeow and Yap Kea Ping.
