The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) wants to meet either of the two education ministers over issues with the privatisation of school security services.

This follows its finding that explanations from the ministry's deputy secretary-general are "less satisfactory".

Nur Jazlan said weaknesses in the implementation of the centralised security contract have to be considerably improved, taking into consideration that the money spent has increased substantially over the last three years.

"And the amount will only increase further because the number of schools will increase," he said.

The audit report revealed that there was serious mismanagement of the RM2.051 billion spent on the contract.

Nur Jazlan also noted that the expenditure on school security has increased from RM594 million in 2010 to RM812 million in 2012.

Nur Jazlan said most of the problems are in terms of implementation, not policy.

"The ministry has taken steps to resolve this but it is still not enough," he said, adding that the PAC expects to meet the minister early next year.
