The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has purportedly recognised ousted Kedah DAP chairperson Lee Guan Aik as the valid chairperson based on the party's constitution, said the latter.     

Lee who personally took a letter from the ROS office in Putrajaya yesterday said the ROS also said the recently established Kedah DAP interim committee is invalid.     

kedah defection ceramah 220510 dap adun lee guan aik He said based on the ROS letter, the appointment of Zairil Khir Johari and the committee by the central executive committee (CEC) on Sept 29 is invalid.     

"I am still the valid Kedah DAP chairperson as I was appointed at the annual general meeting in 2010 based on the party's constitution," he told a press conference at his office in Alor Setar today.     

Lee ( right ) urged the DAP secretary-general Lee Guan Eng to respect the ROS decision in line with the fourth principle of the rukun negara, the rule of law.     

He said the CEC did not have the power to appoint reconciliatory committee members and convene branch meetings as it violated the party's constitution.

The DAP leadership should not point fingers at others and blame the ROS as the party's secretary-general was responsible for the mess, he added.    

Lee said that he will continue as Kedah DAP chairperson until the general meeting next year.     

On Nov 19, 13 Kedah DAP branches urged the CEC to dissolve the interim committee claiming that it is the main source of the mess.
