YOURSAY ‘Which of the words uttered by the CM is untrue? Grandma? Or racist? How's it belittling when it rightly describes you to a 'tee'?'

CM to Jahara: Sorry... but you're still a racist

your say, YoursayArmchair Newspaper: Penang CM Lim Guan Eng, you must, of all people, operate with a differentiated and higher standard of ethical, political maturity and professionalism than those from Umno-BN.

The people are watching and assessing if indeed Pakatan Rakyat leaders are any different than those from the other side. You don't have an easy job and while we empathise with you, you must endure the incessant lies and provocations from the opposition.

We cannot accept the sexist and gender characterisation of state opposition leader Jahara Hamid.

Telestai!: The sole mission of Umno assemblypersons is to sow seeds of hatred amongst the Malays in Penang. Jahara is just doing her job. Is she a racist? Probably yes.

Versey: Is Jahara a grandmother? If so, then she ought to be proud of being called a grandmother for not many are so blessed to have grandchildren at her age and at the same time being an elected representative of the rakyat.

The only issue here is if she is a racist. If she is one, then just admit it boldly and she should not demand apology from people pronouncing the truth. If one can't bear to be called a 'racist', then don't be one, as simple as that.

Just like if your choice is to be a chef, then you must be prepared to stand the heat of the kitchen (alternatively, if you eat salted fish, then you must be prepared to stand its saltiness).

Of all persons, Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) lecturer Ridhuan Tee Abdullah, is the least person qualify to join in the tongue-lashing.

It is crude to remark any single lady as "spinster" in public, yet he called the Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, an elected representative of the rakyat, an "ultra-kiasu spinster". As a lecturer, it is most disgusting of him to be so rude!

Myop101: Lim, a bit of humility please. Don't bully the opposition because Pakatan is now in power. Please live by a higher standard that your political opponents.

Skong: See the difference between Pakatan and BN? Pakatan has no problem in admitting mistakes and apologise when one is wrong whereas BN especially Umno will deny any wrongdoing despite clear evidence, as in the Bujang Valley case.

Jahara wants apology for CM's 'racist grandma' remark

Anonymous #28052681: Penang Umno doesn't know how to be an effective opposition, the whole issue started with Jahara's "racist" approach in the state assembly and now she is demanding apology from a person who states the obvious from the outcome?

"Insult to all grandmothers? Raise the grievances of the people?" She is just finding faults on words used so that she can appear to be the heroine cum victim on their party's mouthpiece newspaper.

Fernz: Guan Eng should have just called her racist, not racist grandma.

Yummy: Wait a minute, Jahara. Which of the words uttered by the CM is untrue? Grandma? Or, racist? How's it belittling when it rightly describes you to a 'tee'?

Weren't your comments racist in nature when you demanded to know why the local council did not take action against the four Chinese outlets, but you conveniently left out the fact that there were more Malay stalls there as well?

Jahara, your style is the same with all the loud-mouthed opposition in Pakatan-run states - you lot pick your facts but you don't present the whole truth. Shame on you.

Headhunter: This again shows the depth of racism in the country and what it can do, driving us to despair and anger. Why is Umno always tagging race and religion on every issue they raise? For once can't they not use the "me Malay, you Chinese" mantra to raise issues?

Instead of the issues being the main focus, they become sidetracked instead by the race and religious issues. It's sickening and there seem to be no let-up because they are too bankrupt of ideas to win our trust.

Onyourtoes: First we had the allegation that have Chinese Malaysian doctors who refused to treat Malay patients.

Now we have accusations of racist demolition of illegal stalls and shops. When are you fellows going to stop despite the fact that some of you are already grandparents?

If criticism is due, just use double standards, poor judgement, incompetency and even abuse of power or corruption, if you have the proof.

Please don't use racism indiscriminately and without justification or proof. It is not good for the country. If Umno has to use it, please don't assume others have to do the same. I believe the Penang government would not dare to do it even if some of the members are racists.

Doc: I agree that Lim should apologise for calling Jahara a "racist grandmother", only after Umno apologises to the non-Malays for calling them "pendatangs", "ungrateful", "infidels"...
