SENATE The government has implemented security  measures to protect the security of data, documents and official secrets to prevent them from falling into the hands of foreign countries or irresponsible parties.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim said they include the security screening system and the e-Vetting system on civil servants, contractors or vendors who provide services to the government and private sector employees working in key target areas.

The chief security officer of the government always ensured that government documents and official secrets were protected by existing regulations.

“The Government Chief Security Office did not receive any official reports from ministries, departments or agencies on the (alleged) cases of spying of government secrets as published by the media,” he told the Dewan Negara today.

Shahidan was replying to a question from Senator Mariany Mohammad Yit who urged the government to state the status and security level of data, documents and official secrets, and the government’s response to spying and foreign intrusion.
