The number of flood evacuees in Pahang has dropped to 5,498 this morning from 5,539 last night.

According to the flood operations room at the state police contingent headquarters, as at 8am today, the flood victims from 1,384 families were at 63 relief centres in six flood-affected districts.

Pekan district still has the highest number of evacuees, with 3,879 at 39 relief centres, followed by Kuantan with 731 at four, Maran 724 at 13, Bera 103 at four, Temerloh 48 at two and Rompin 13 at one.

In TERENGGANU, the number of flood evacuees at 10 relief centres in three districts remained at 784 (from 190 families) as at 9am today.

According to the National Security Council portal, the three districts still affected by floods were Dungun with 413 evacuees, Kemaman 349 and Marang 22.

The state Drainage and Irrigation Department reported that the water levels in several main rivers which were previously above danger levels, were at alert levels this morning.

With clear skies, water levels at major rivers in Terengganu have returned to normal.

In KUANTAN, although all evacuation centres in Rompin and Temerloh have been closed, the number of flood victims in Pahang rose slightly to 5,515 from 1,391 families from 5,498 this morning.

Pahang police contingent flood operation room spokesman said the victims were housed at 57 evacuation centres.

Flood victims in Pekan increased to 3,992 from 3,879 this morning and they were sheltered in 39 evacuation centres followed by Kuantan (736 in four relief centres), Maran (724 in 12 centres) and Bera (63 in two centres).
