Paul Warren: Wah, so quickly the home minister makes a liar of Prine Minister Najib Abdul Razak. And he challenges Chief Minister Taib Mahmud on his own doorstep!! Najib, don't you feel like you have been made to look like the fool he is making you out to be?

Kim Quek: Religious persecution seems to be a political game that has gained favour with Umno. First, the Christians are banned from using the word Allah, a word they have used from time immemorial.

Now even their fellow Muslims (from the Shiite sect) are hunted down, all for the sake of prolonging Umno's political hegemony.

So, Iban Christians in Sarawak should not be shocked to be at the receiving end of such treatment. Rather, they should ponder long and hard whether their hitherto unflinching support for the ruling coalition, dominated by Umno, has contributed to their present sufferings.

Not Confused: Two-faced, hypocritical, arrogant, insensitive and a whole bunch of other words describe the BN government and its sycophantic supporters who signal to the entire world what a stupid, bumbling country we are.

Our leaders are not only corrupt but also suffer from a severe case of tunnel-vision. To those who voted for the BN in the last election: I hope you are now happy!

Anonymous #37634848: Did you ask your Christian delegates from other countries whether they use the word Allah in their communions, or if this word Allah is in any of their Bibles? Freedom of religion is practising what is traditional and integral part of the Bible, not the inclusion of usurped and twisted teachings offensive to Muslims!

I take it that all religious groups in our country have full freedom to practise their own religions without adulteration. Everybody needs to reciprocate and apply empathy for the continued well-being of the nation.

Outraged: Be strong and fight for your rights fearlessly. If the written agreements are not honoured, what chance for a verbal assurance from the PM, who may leave office anytime, by death or other unforeseen circumstances?

Now is the time to defend your human rights to freedom of worship, without anyone telling you how to worship. We have to stop this silly circus.

Kairos: Clearly, all the assurances and promises so far that the recent Court of Appeal ruling applies only to the peninsula is bullshit and pure political rhetoric.

What is confusing is that the CM of Sarawak himself has given his personal assurance that freedom of expression of religion by the native indigenous Sarawakians is guaranteed. So, who is calling the shots? The PM or the CM?

If the state gives in to the demands and dictates of the federal government in this matter of religion, then before long Ketuanan Islam will ride roughshod over East Malaysia.

Clearly, the ultra Malay radicals in Umno are thumping their noses at the Christian natives of Sarawak, right at their doorstep. What are the politicians in Sarawak, who are supposed to represent the interests of the people who elected them, going to do about this?

Maybe they are too cowardly? Or totally 'sold out' to even want to say anything? What a load of rubbish!

IQ900: Never trust the BN. Told you all to vote Pakatan into power. If Pakatan is the government now, all these will not arise.

This ruling covers the whole of Malaysia, unless Putrajaya decides on a one country-two system policy, like the People's Republic of China. Until such time, it is unlawful for Christians to use the word Allah.

Hill: May Allah bless the people of Sabah and Sarawak. I mean the Christian 'Allah'.

Black Mamba: Remove Umno from East Malaysia in GE14 and Sarawakians and Sabahans can have their Allah back.

Omega: I believe that in the end, God will be fair to all. If you lose the right to use His name, He may give you back some other thing, like good health, good career or a good spouse and children. That way, everyone will get something and hopefully, everyone will be happy.

Speaking sense: Najib - all talk; Taib Mahmud - all talk; Christian ministers in government - all follow talk. Moral of the story: don't listen to talk, just vote!

James1067: Promises were made in the Cobbold Commission and promises by mouth were made to the people of Sabah and Sarawak.

Secondly, the law only applies to the Catholic publication The Herald. This action by the authorities will not only send negative vibes to the people of Sabah and Sarawak but also to the world, about 'freedom of worship' in Malaysia.
