Attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail said yesterday that he was prepared to give a letter of authority for Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli to scrutinise all his bank accounts in the country and abroad.

In a four-paragraph statement in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, he said he had been following media reports including the latest statement by Rafizi, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) director of strategy.

News portal The Malaysian Insider yesterday quoted Rafizi as saying that the PKR would seek the cooperation of the Hong Kong authorities to investigate alleged misconduct by Abdul Gani as claimed by Kuala Lumpur CID former director Mat Zain Ibrahim in a 31-page statutory declaration recently.

Abdul Gani vehemently denied the allegations which he described as baseless.

“I am prepared to give YB Rafizi the letter of authority if he wants to check my bank accounts in any country including Hong Kong about the millions of dollars that had purportedly been deposited into my account as a bribe in the overlapping claim on Pulau Batu Putih at the International Court of Justice.

“He can come to my office at any time to get the letter,” he said.
