YOURSAY 'Najib is deaf and blind to the rakyat's plight and prefers to feign ignorance over the pledge made in the BN election manifesto.'

Umno MP reminds gov't of GE13 promise to reduce tolls

your say, Yoursay Odin: Kepala Batas MP Reezal Merican Naina Merican, I am sure you are complaining in all honesty and sincerity, and that is very much appreciated, especially given that you are from Umno.

Unfortunately, your effort, I am certain, will come to nought. If Umno's promises are ‘janji Melayu', PM Najib Razak's words are worth even less.

Swipenter: After depleting the national coffer through gross financial mismanagement, cronyism and corruption, Umno Baru has to find all sorts of ways and means to replenish the coffers to remake the raiding of the national coffers their main preoccupation worth their while.

The easiest way is to raise money through new taxes and reduction of subsidies and not thinking and working hard to tackle the economic problems, wastage, leakages and corruption plaguing our Bolehland.

Bianca Lee: Finally a BN MP to the rescue. Reezal has at least done his job as a responsible MP asking the government to keep to their manifesto.

If the BN government go ahead despite the objections of the people and break its promise, it will be a good wake-up call for those BN voters in the next GE.

Wira: BN MPs can only exonerate their conscience after they resign as they were elected through deceit and lies. Otherwise, this is only sandiwara.

CQ Muar: Not many in Umno-BN would dare speak the truth for fear of hurting the govenrment and its policies.

Therein proves there are still many sensible and righteous Malays (regardless of origin) like Reezal Merican within the realms of Umno questioning the slew of senseless hikes that burden the medium and lower-income group.

Thus, such were their political ploys made in their election campaign, targeting the rural Malays, just to win their votes.

Najib is deaf and blind to the rakyat's plight and prefers to feign ignorance over the pledge made in the BN election manifesto.

As such, ordinary citizens who are suffering in silence, need to awaken to realities and stand up when the moment is right against such deceptive policies and lies propagated by the BN government.

Wg321: The rakyat has to suffered endlessly because the Official Secrets Act (OSA) is used to protect the interests of all the concessionaires.

We, the rakyat, are not allowed to examine all the one-sided agreements in favour of the concessionaires because they are all Umno cronies. It appears that most of the time, the OSA is used to protect malpractices.

Ratbatblue: You got to give Reezal some credit for speaking out, even if it's only a minor issue compared with the global problems we face.

I hope the rural folk are reminded about this. They too have to pay increased toll fees when they come to town from their kampongs.

In fact, apart from the increase in the cost of petrol, the next big "killer" would be the toll increase. Everybody, from lorry owners to bus operators, to market vendors to sundry shop owners and providers of a host of services would be screaming for a hike in charges.

MinahBulat : Do you trust this BN politician? I don't. What they are doing is playing good cop, bad cop. As they say, "Manusia dia, hantu pun dia."

'Turun' for price hike protest on Dec 31

JoanH: With the arrogance shown by our ministers, perhaps this is the only way to send the message to our government that we, the people, are unable to take the price hikes for so many key items, one after another.

Prices of all goods have spiraled upwards in the last month and things are going to get worse next year when the electricity tariffs increase.

We demand for the ‘harga barang' to ‘turun', but if the government wants to, it can also ‘turun' and let Pakatan Rakyat run the country.

Toffeesturn: It is time to back the students. They may not be your child and my child, but they are our children. Let them lead, they are thinking not only of themselves but their parents as well.

I urge all Malaysians above the age of 18 to be there on New Year's Eve in Dataran Merdeka. I will support this worthy cause.

4dpeople: Let's hold our hands together, put aside differences of race, religion, culture and ideologies, and ‘turun' together to oppose the price hikes which are going to burden us and our younger generation.

Peacemaker: Will the police be helping the citizens to enjoy their civil rights or are they coming with chemical sprays, water cannons as well as tear gas-armed FRU police?

Abeng: "People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people."

When the people fear their government, it is tyranny. See you there.
