YOURSAY 'Wee Ka Siong appears to be worried only about the distinct possibility that Umno's continuing injustice and unfairness will also take down MCA.'

Clam up or lose Chinese votes, Wee warns Umno

your say, Yoursay Old Timer : Sorry, MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong, you only got it partly right. Not only has Umno lost the Chinese votes, MCA too has already lost the Chinese votes.

MCA has been in the government since Merdeka, and yet the Chinese have been sidelined and have lost out in all areas, be it the economy, education, public service, business, religion, and cabinet posts.

Vijay47: Wee Ka Siong does not seem at all concerned about Umno's growing racism and discrimination against the Chinese and other non-Malays.

He appears to be worried only about the distinct possibility that Umno's continuing injustice and unfairness will lead to a loss of its grip on government and in the process also take down MCA. Or rather, take it down further.

Wee may want to look like a Chinese hero with these occasional reprimands to his masters but nobody is buying it. These 'eve of elections' comments are merely cosmetic statements, no doubt to be followed by profuse apologies.

The party's total subservience to Umno can be seen in the fact that not a single non-Malay BN leader spoke out against any of the many offensive unjust acts and statements Umno has been spewing.

If you want to fight for the nation, the Chinese and the non-Malays, make it a full-time vocation, Ka Siong. ‘Wee' are not amused.

Ian2003: Wee, do you think you could influence any government decision even if you are a cabinet minister? Get real, you are irrelevant. The only difference is that if you are not a minister, you just don't get a cut of the cake. That's all.

Kiankoh: How come Wee suddenly woke up from his sleep and realised that Umno is racist? And only now he talks about the interests of the people?

Anyway whoever wins in the MCA elections doesn't matter as Pakatan Rakyat, despite some problems, is getting stronger every day. So MCA can officially close shop in the next general election.

Anonymous_4056: What you said is very true, Wee, but the Chinese do not believe Umno can change after over 50 years of being so selfish and backward in thinking. They mistakenly believe they are the masters and this nation belongs exclusively to them.

They are so arrogant and corrupt that they literally cannot wean themselves from eating the soft rice that the minority races must always feed them. They are behaving exactly like a permanent cripple. The entire Malay race has been trained by Umno to be such.

Onyourtoes: Wee, you said "if the government wants to win over the people's hearts, it needs to serve the interests of all people and not on a racial basis". Sounds good, but the devil is in the details. What do mean by "to serve the interests of all the people?"

Do you mean this by giving MCA a certain number of cabinet, exco, municipal council, and other statutory posts? You mean giving ad hoc allocations to Chinese schools?

You mean MCA will appeal on behalf of all Chinese students their applications for JPA (Public Service Department) scholarships and admission to courses of their choice in local universities each year?

You mean for MCA to appeal to the government (don't you think it is oxymoronic for MCA to appeal to the government when MCA is in the government?) to allow more Chinese to join the civil service?

You mean for MCA to be the punching bag and to answer on Umno's behalf all the BN's discriminatory policies by telling the Chinese that they can always depend on our own ingenuity and enterprise?

You mean to set up more self-help and complaint centres like what Michael Chong was doing the last three decades, even though it is the job of the police and other government agencies to handle all these? I wonder why Umno did not have the same outfit like what Chong was doing all these years?

You mean to be "cosmetic ministers" like deputy education, finance and home ministers just to handle parliamentary questions?

You mean like becoming transport minister but without the authority and oversight on taxi, bus and lorry permits and highway construction and maintenance works?

You mean like becoming housing and local government minister but without the power and oversight over housing and local government (what an irony)?

You mean like becoming health minister but having no say over health polices, privatisation of health services, recruitment of health ministry personnel, and construction of hospitals and other infrastructure?

You mean MCA should set up more private universities and colleges like Tunku Abdul Rahman College and beg the government for assistance each year? The list can go on.

TTT: I am struggling to understand why MCA still thinks that being in BN is beneficial? Please let us know what are the top five things BN has done for Malaysians in the past five years?

All I see is that they have given out BR1M, and book vouchers, which to me is a result of their mismanagement in reeling in wastage, resulting in a higher cost of living. So those 1Malaysia initiatives are not initiatives... more like reactions.

Malaysia Truly Asia: Wee, we know you want to win the MCA deputy post, but your barbs should be aimed at DAP whose mission is to kill MCA and with that keep the Chinese-hating Umno-BN, and that way the Chinese will never return.

Umno does what it has to do and you do what you have to do. MCA cannot blame anyone but itself.

NewMalaysia: MCA is still under the illusion that Umno still cares, yet in reality, everyone knows that Umno has long ditched MCA and would rather cling on to the hardcore Malays than to please non-Malays.

MCA is just like a wife whose husband Umno has found a new lover but still clings on to the marriage and refuses to get a divorce.
