Has MCA become Umno's political patient that it cannot stand up strongly against BN chief Najib Razak's "viagra" insult at its annual general meeting yesterday, asked DAP.

"Najib openly insulted MCA when he suggested that MCA needs some political viagra and asked the health minister from MIC to prescribe the medication.

NONE "This is an insulting, humiliating and disrespectful remark coming from Najib publicly to shame MCA leaders," noted Taiping MP's political secretary Chong Zhemin in a statement today.

Asking why MCA is taking the insult lying down, Chong, who is also DAP Perak economic development bureau chairperson quipped, "Has MCA turned from a political servant to a political slave and now a political patient to Umno?"

He said the insult deserved a strong response from MCA's newly elected chief Liow Tiong Lai ( above, left ).

"Liow must also ask Najib to retract his comment and apologize without reservations," said Chong.

He added that the entire new leadership voted in this week should stand up to Najib over the uflattering remark.

Najib, who officiated MCA's AGM yesterday remarked that the ailing Chinese party needed " political viagra " as it had the "flesh" but its "spirit was weak", a remark greeted with laughter from the delegates.

Chong also expressed surprise at MCA Wanita new chief Heng Seai Kie's limp response to the PM's apparently "sexist" remark.

"Heng Seai Kie was spot on when she said she was 'a little surprised' at Najib’s remark and this is 'not the type of comment women would hear in an occasion like this',” he noted.

performance of pm najib razak december 2013 However, he said, Heng made excuses for Najib that the joke should not be placed under a "magnifying glass" and that she reportedly did not consider it an insult to women.

"Viagra is not any normal drug. It is a drug to treat erectile dysfunction for men having an erection problem.

"How is this not a sexist comment when made publicly by Najib during MCA's general assembly?" said Chong.

He also reminded the PM that it was not so much MCA that was having problems performing, but Najib himself.

After all, he said, Merdeka Centre's December survey showed the PM's approval ratings drooping to 52 percent, his lowest since he took office in 2009.

"Instead, Najib himself should be the one looking for a political boost after his dip in approval rating," said Chong.
