Thousands of residents in Rawang, near Kuala Lumpur, were stranded due to flash floods, especially near the Aeon Rawang shopping centre.

According to a Rawang Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, heavy rain early this morning caused a river near the shopping complex to overflow its banks and inundate the surrounding areas.

“It also caused a massive traffic jam from the direction of Jalan Batu Arang heading to Aeon Rawang,” he said when contacted by Bernama .

The floods affected those travelling to work or carrying out their daily businesses since 6am today.
