NGO to top cop: Retract weapons claim, or we sue

Kim Quek: Right move, Jingga 13. High time we put a stop to this nonsense from the police with legal action. Umno has been in a state of paranoia of losing power; and the corrupt police are only too happy to curry favour with its political masters by using every dirty means available to unconstitutionally thwart any mass demonstration of disapproval of the regime.

However, little does the regime realise that through such unjust repression, it has unwittingly rendered greater publicity to the event while heightening public indignation. The recent spate of rampant price increases to burden the people without reining in the massive corruption and leakages is a cruel stroke that no one can accept.

And so, let us join our voices in the New Year’s Eve gathering to pass a resounding message to the regime: Enough is enough!

Multi Racial: It is the duty of the police to ensure law and order. If the citizens are not happy with the government and want to demonstrate, it is their right and the job of the police is to ensure the demonstration is carried out peacefully. It is unbecoming for the police to spread fear and attempt to frighten the people from joining the demonstration.

What is wrong for the people to demonstrate against price hikes? If the police have evidence that people have grenades and bombs, shouldn't they act immediately as it is illegal to own such weapons? Why are the police not doing anything if what they claim is genuine?

Anonymous #37634848: Well done Jingga13. The police report is timely. Sabotage agents may be planted by these detractors of the anti-price hike rally. The police should concentrate on its duties. Protect the people in the peaceful rally and not become provocateurs.

The Punjabis and the Nepalese have been recognised as heros in our history for they have given their lives for the honour of the nation that they have served.

Onyourtoes: Malaysian police, please be careful, don’t be like that little boy who cried wolf. Soon, no one will believe you even if it is true. It is immoral to make accusations - to overthrow the government and to use weapons such as bombs and hand grenades when you have investigated none and gathered no evidence.

When I look at all of you with your smart uniforms, police crests on the foreheads, pips and crowns of the shoulders, I wonder you fellows have any honour and pride let. You owe to your service, to your duties, and to Malaysians to carry out the job professionally and without partisanship and bias. Don’t be a cheap and worthless tool.

CQ MUAR: Where else in the world do they have the police force clamp down on the opposition at their whims and fancies, and at the least 'provocation'? This only happens in our Bolehland by our police force.

These so called law enforcers seem to have nothing better to do but to 'hawk eye' all activities forthcoming from the opposition   goes to show how partisan and lopsided these men in blue can be.

Anonymous_40f4: Police and Umno playing politics? Smearing a peaceful people’s protest against enormous and obscene price hikes by the liar BN/Umno government? When the rakyat plans to gather to protest the injustices of the government, Umno always panics. They use their media to smear the protest. We have seen the same smear tactics time and again.

CiViC: The more they react, the more they fear. This is actually positive encouragement for the rakyat to go down to the New Year’s Eve rally. Umno is revealing its weakness, and that is the rakyat, knowing they "stole" Putrajaya with only 47 percent votes (even less taking into consideration alleged fraud and phantom voters).

More than enough allegations have been circulating on the alleged murder and bombing of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, but yet the said suspect was never even called in.

The authorities should and must learn to separate the chaff from the oats before endeavoring in their pursuits which is a waste of their time and taxpayers' money. Surely, there are bigger problems with the amount of theft, burglaries and gangster that need to be looked into.

Karma: Our police are so useless. Every time there is an announced rally, they still go through the routine of finding 'parangs and bombs' or receiving info on planned 'attacks at several locations' in KL. Then they will follow with arrests of the 'accused' and not even question those who issued the allegations.

Aren't the police tired of such stupidity? Looks like only in Malaysia, stupid perpetrators leak their plans prior to execution. Or there are certain people using the same tactic time and again in an attempt to stop a peaceful protest. If the fake scares fail, then what?

Samurai: How silly of these opposition leaders. They are planning bombs on New Year's Eve, and the guy titles his email 'C for Chaos'. How very convenient. Now, who was the last to say in public that the protesters plan to create chaos?

And the pro-Umno bloggers just happened to get their hands on this email. Sounds more like a Utusan headline and their grandmother's tales, written in the same style.

SenyumUnta: When the 'boss' says, I don't want this Dec31 rally to take place by hook or by crook. I don't care how it is done, I want it stopped. This is when the police’s creativity comes into being, even though it sounds illogical.

Paul Warren: How to believe anything that the police say? They just become the megaphone for the whispering from Umno sources and probably that accounts for the bulge in their pants when they do that. And maybe for that alone they will keep being the megaphone.

Retnam: And, dear police, you, your children and your families are also going to be badly affected by this price increases. Think about that before you do silly things.

Well Thats Fantastic: A report I read said that the police had received about 1,000 complaints against the rally. So, if there are more than 1,000 people at the rally they outnumber the complainants. We live in a democracy, the police MUST follow the wishes of the majority and not these few people, especially when faced with a crowd of over 100,000 (my guess).

Basically: The police say 1,000 police reports have been lodged against the anti-price hike rally. This means, if we use the government's same logic over price hikes, that most Malaysians approve of the rally, since they did not protest it. Right?
