The Kelantan Syariah Court in Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor in Kota Baru was broken into yesterday.  

Kota Baru deputy OCPD Supt Idris Abd Rafar said the break-in was discovered by an administrative assistant when he arrived for work at about 7.30am yesterday.

“When the complainant entered the building he found the offices on the second, fifth and sixth floors broken into and the file cabinets there ransacked.  

“The chief judge’s chambers and investigating officer’s office on the sixth floor were also ransacked," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Idris said police believed the intruder or intruders entered the building through a window on the second floor using a ladder, which was left there by a contractor, before going to the fifth and second floors.

“There were marks which showed that the doors to the offices had been prised open and the intruders are believed to have ransacked the file cabinets,” he said, adding that no valuable items were reported missing.  

He said police had viewed the footage of a closed-circuit television camera in the area, but it was of no help due to poor lighting then.
