Kuala Lumpur traffic police chief ACP Rosli Mohd Noor said the situation was normal at Dataran Merdeka where thousands of people were expected to gather tonight to welcome 2014.
A check by Bernama found Kuala Lumpur City Hall workers making preparations for the New Year’s Eve celebration at the square. The section of Jalan Raja Laut leading to Dataran Merdeka has been closed to facilitate the preparations.
Bernama also found the situation to be normal in the Bukit Bintang, Masjid Jamek and Masjid India areas where New Year Eve revellers were expected to gather as well.
Elsewhere in the city, people went about their jobs as usual.
