All three Pakatan Rakyat parties’ youth wings have pledged their support to the price hike rally at Dataran Merdeka tonight, while playing down fears that there will be violence sparked during the rally.

PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat, PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Akin, and DAP Youth chief Teo Kok Seong said in a joint statement issued today that the issue of there being a bomb during Anwar Ibrahim’s Sodomy II trial at the Duta court last year was also played up and mysteriously never solved.

“Pakatan youth believes that the security team would ensure there are no bomb threats or unwanted incidents during the rally,” they said.

It said that the bomb threat claim was made by “worried and irresponsible parties” who want to scare off youths from participating in the rally.

“Pakatan youth is also confident that the rally is a peaceful rally just like previous rallies and people do not have to be worried about unwanted incidents,” it said.

It also said that today’s rally being organised by youths shows that Malaysian youths are increasingly “mature and politically aware”.
