Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), which operates the Ampang and Kelana Jaya LRT lines, monorail and the public bus services refuted claims that the company would end its services at 6pm today in order to carry out maintenance work.

Rumours on the service, quoting Bernama as the source, was spread through the short messaging service (SMS).

Prasarana group director for infrastructure services, Masnizam Hisham, said the SMS on the matter was false and an irresponsible act because it could create panic among city dwellers.

“Prasarana will lodge a police report and also to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission,” she said in a statement.

She said the LRT service for today would be extended until 2am at major stations in conjunction with the New Year celebration.

Meanwhile, Malaysian National News Agency ( Bernama ) deputy editor-in-chief Zakaria Abdul Wahab said some irresponsible people were using Bernama’s name to spread false news, claiming that LRT, monorail and bus services would end at 6am today due to maintenance work.
