YOURSAY 'Who’re real traitors - leaders who steal or rakyat who protest?'

Perak mufti declares Dec 31 protesters 'traitors'

Well Thats Fantastic: Why is Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria using the people's religion and god against them when they are obviously feeling unheard and repressed by our so-called "country's leaders"?

I hope this man burns in the hell he uses to scare people into doing as he says.

Anonymous_5fb : Imagine a religious man with authority talking about bloodshed against protesters being alright. What kind of religious teaching is this if this is said to be the true interpretation of Islam?

SS Dhaliwal: This Umno-paid mufti should practice religious zeal in his own house. He is trying to mislead the less educated Malays away from the truth. This is not about religion, but about democracy and standing up against the tyranny and injustice of the Umno-led government.

This mufti, if he is not a coward and resilient about his convictions, should have said this to the protesters in Egypt if he dared. He would have been pelted with stones I bet.

Interested Bystander: Harussani said, "...the Parliament is the proper platform to highlight the problems faced by the people." Unfortunately, the Parliament is under the control of the executive and is totally useless.

Well Thats Fantastic : Oh yes, and every time an emergency motion is brought to Parliament in the hope that it will address the rakyat's concerns, the speaker disallows it. So we have to resort to going to the streets to be heard.

Tpn: Who cares what you say, Harussani? Remember you were the chief culprit who spread false messages some years back in Perak and got off scot-free.

Fair&Just: Is this the man who lied about the alleged massive apostate conversion issue in Perak but was not charged?

Perhaps he has to continue lying and to bear false witness or he will be charged for his earlier lie. Lie here, lie there, he should lie in prison for causing tension.

Hank Marvin: The mufti has brought shame to Islam. Instead of giving a progressive edict, he chose to give legitimacy to a corrupt government.

Actually there were incidents during the time of the holy Prophet himself which were not condemned by the apostle of god, which indicates that peaceful protests have a place in Islam.

On top of that the holy Prophet and his companions led a hermit way of life, something which even the mufti himself fails to do.

And yet the latter issued a fatwa that is against the teaching of Islam. In Islam telling the truth to a despot is one of the highest forms of virtue.

MacMac: Hello Harussani, please indicate who the real traitors of Malaysia are: the leaders who steal and plunder the nation's coffers, or the people who protest against unreasonable price hikes.

This man must get his head checked. Being a Umno stooge he can say anything to confuse the rural Muslims and keep them under the ‘tempurung’ (coconut shell) forever.

Malaysian Born: Why is this man given the authority to speak like this? He is actually saying that violence is somehow justified and that the spilling of some blood to punish those exercising their democratic rights is okay.

There should be a limit on how inflammatory and incendiary these religious leaders are allowed to, whether when addressing their flock or as in this case when they make public statements.

Tell the Truth: If anyone is a traitor, you are the biggest traitor of the people, Harussani.

When will you realise that the Muslims in particular are suffering the cost of the price hikes whilst you comfortably sit in your ivory tower on your fat butt and pass judgement? If there is anyone to be judged you are the first in line.

Jeremy Ng: As mufti, he should be the first to stand up and protest in the interest of his fellow Muslims. Rising prices through mismanagement and abuses by authorities should be an highly sinful act by any religion.

Sarajun Hoda: Let's say Pakatan Rakyat comes to power one day and BN has complaints and rallies the people to protest and demonstrate against the ruling government. Would that be 'haram' and 'treasonous' too?

Would this mufti tell BN which will be then in opposition that it would be wrong to protest against the government? Mullahs have always been parasites to power and Harussani is no exception.

Doc: Umno's new strategy - labelling anti-Umno elements as being anti-Islam.

Hmmmmmmmm: They have tried labelling the Turun protest as one meant to topple the government. That didn't work. They tried to link bombs to the protest, that didn't work either.

Now they are trying to use religion. If that doesn't work, they'll try linking the protest somehow to race or the Malay rulers.
