Ten households in a Baling village today appealed to Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) to restore piped water to their homes that was disrupted three weeks ago following an alleged burst main.

These residents of Kampung Padang Sadan claimed that they had to resort to using water from a ditch or fetch fresh water from the houses of other villagers, some as far as 10 kilometres away.

“We fear that the water from the ditch may be contaminated by rat urine,” said villager Darus Yahman, 60.

He said the situation had become all the more difficult now that school had reopened and children had to have their bath before going to school.

Darus said the villagers had complained to SADA several times but nothing seemed to have been done yet.

“We are puzzled that SADA had yet to trace the fault,” said housewife Siti Fatimah Mohd Zainol, 26.
