Najib can't deliver his 10-point solution
YOURSAY ‘Najib must address and explain the Allah issue to Malaysians.’
Jais behaving like Gestapo, says bishop
Iiiizzzziiii:
This type of action by Selangor Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) can only imply one thing, and that is fear.
So, why are they so afraid and what are they afraid of? Are they setting an example for other Islamic countries to follow? Is this how religious teachings should be expounded to the world?
No wonder Malaysia becomes the butt of jokes all over the world, and we only have ourselves to be blamed. If this continue unabated, the future of this country may plunge into the dark ages again. Welcome to the land of chaos, courtesy of Jais.
Rakyatfirst: Please stop this madness. While the government is encouraging the use of Bahasa Malaysia in all aspects of life, it looks like this does not include religion.
Please learn from Indonesia on this aspect. The Suharto government shut down all Chinese schools in Indonesia equating Chinese language with communism.
Look at Indonesia today. Millions of indigenous Indonesians are learning Chinese. Please let the development of human culture takes its own course. No coercion, no compulsion.
Mavelikara: Don’t forget, there are many Christians from East Malaysia who live in the peninsula and many of them grew up speaking Bahasa Malaysia.
Omega: I hope Catholic Bishop Dr Paul Tan Chee Ing and other Christians do not consume the negative energies that were thrown at them lately.
Continue to hold on to the forces of brightness because it is with such forces that can let you develop real values and strength.
JMC: Jais’ raid on Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) is an abuse of power. Does Jais have the power to act against non-Muslims? If so, who gave them that power?
This is a case of Jais taking the law into its own hands with the help of the police. Despite such blatant abuse of the law, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his government will refuse to act.
Headhunter: Spot on, Bishop Paul Tan. These days the country under the Najib administration is encouraging the rule by vigilante groups and religious nuts, financed by taxpayers as usual.
And with his deputy prime minister and home minister acting like high-ranking Nazi officers, the country is plunging into a tailspin.
Anonymous #85701391: Is Jais now a component unit of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM)? Or has Jais become an authority higher than the courts of Malaysia with the power to enter or raid premises without a warrant?
It is time for Najib to address and explain firmly and clearly these issues to Parliament and Malaysians before Malaysians become prisoners of the religious nuts in our once peaceful country.
Mosquitobrain: Bishop Paul Tan, can you please brief Najib the whole issue one more time? The PM does not seem to know what is actually happening around him.
Remember, Najib has short-term memory. Please make him write 1,000 times the letter ‘A’, lest he forgets again!
Curi Satu Malaysia: They are trying to follow Hong Kong - one country, two systems. The only difference is Hong Kong's self-administration arrangement was agreed and abided by both parties.
In Bodohland, Umno violates what was agreed upon by turning it into sensitive religious issue. Do they actually know ‘Allah’ merely means ‘God’ in Arabic word. What do they actually want to gain from it?
MA: Right now we seriously need a strong religious leader who can amalgamate all of us to fight this appalling spiraling madness.
Bishop Paul Tan seems to be a beacon out there. May ‘Allah’ guide us to the true path and until then we need to remain calm as any untoward action coming from the Christians would certainly disturb the status quo.
Yummy: Next time, the Gestapo might very well pronounce all religions with the use of figurines, statues and stain glass with angels, etc, are an abhorrence to ‘their’ religion.
Then, they raid those premises and remove them. Not possible, you say? Well, this raid on BSM is certainly the genesis of things to come.
Hero325: The action of Jais should be condemned but it has nothing to do with the federal government or the PM.
If you cannot accept the fact that it happens in Pakatan Rakyat-ruled state, then just say so and declare your stand.
Vision2020: Ordinary Malaysians do not quarrel with one another on religion but the minority Umno-BN government has to perpetuate the ‘Allah’ plot to create unnecessary chaos among fellow Malaysians, particularly in a Pakatan state in order to gain political mileage.
Argonist: Under which law is the Gestapo authority allowed to compel non-Muslims to report to it? Where are the non-Muslim legal experts who can voice a retort to such acts of impunity?
The Selangor government as a whole is decidedly an eunuch in these matters so there is no point beating a dead snake.
Anonymous #37634848: Bishop Tan is a man learned in Christianity. He should know that there was no ‘Allah’ word in the bibles, including the King James version from which the Malay Bible originated. It was plain Jesus Christ.
Why didn’t he tell his shepherds to drop the word and adopt the traditional ‘Jesus Christ’ when referring to god?
Gerard Lourdesamy: If the federal government has no role to play in the actions of Jais, why the police presence during the raid? Jais comes under the purview of the Selangor sultan and even the state government has little, if no power, to tell them what to do or not to do.
And since 2008, Mais (Selangor Islamic Religious Council) and Jais are behaving like appendages of Umno with the tacit support of the palace.
They seldom consult or listen to the MB and the state government, and the palace has on more than one occasion made it clear to the state government and state legislative assembly not to interfere in Islamic affairs.
The Bible was first written in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. It was subsequently translated into different languages, including Malay. For more than 300 years, the word for God is ‘Allah’ and the word for Lord is ‘Tuhan’ in the Alkitab.
No one protested or objected until 2004 when The Herald case first erupted. In fact in Aramaic, which is the language spoken by Jesus, the word for God is ‘Allah’.
Whatsup: Did the presence of PDRM and the thugs of Umno, legitimise the raid? Who gave the order? What's next? Sikh temples? Chinese? Hindu?
When is this infringement going to stop? Until the country is bankrupt? As usual, the silence continues, and perhaps another round of overseas travels. Who’s really the captain of Malaysian ship?
Not Convinced: Clearly, the PM is unable to deliver on the 10-point solution mooted by him - that Sabahans and Sarawakians can continue to use ‘Allah’. Clearly, yet another broken promised.
