The National Defence Research Centre (Puspahanas),business person Deepak Jaikishan's  target of corruption allegations against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will finally be ready by the end of 2014.

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said the building, which should have been completed  in 2011, is 61 percent ready and is expected to be open in 2015, according to a Berita Harian report today.

Hishammuddin ( right ) said the centre will offer defence and strategy courses to military men.

"This will allow them to contribute to the national defence industry as well as in the field of military strategy," he was quoted as saying.

The construction of Puspahanas building was tasked to Awan Megah (M) Sdn Bhd, an inexperienced company, the proprietor being an Umno division leader.

In exchange for the estimated RM100 million project, which the company was to expected to complete at its own expense, the government would pay RM20 million in addition to which it  would acquire 223.3 acres of government land in Klang.

However, Deepak had claimed the politician did not have the credit-worthiness at that time to secure a land bond of RM72.5 million necessary for the project and had ,therefore, approached him for help.

The deal, he added, would require him to secure the RM72.5 million land bond and top it up with RM23 million in cash payments to the company.

In return, Deepak ( 2nd from left in photo ) said the politician's company was to hand over to him ownership of the property, a piece of prime land adjacent to the now booming Setia Alam township.

But by the end of 2012, Deepak never received the promised land after holding to his end of the bargain and later launched a tirade against Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, alleging that he had bribed them to come in as a third party in the project.

After more than a month of relentless attacks against them, the Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) abruptly announced that it will purchase a 80 percent stake in Deepak's company Astacanggih Sdn Bhd for RM30 million as well as the 200-acre plot of land from Awan Megah (M) Sdn Bhd for RM130 million.

LTAT's investment vehicle Boustead Holding Sdn Bhd had announced that it would, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Bakti Wira Development Sdn Bhd, undertake the purchase.

PKR strategies director Rafizi Ramili had decried the RM160 million as " outright bribery " to silence Deepak and bury the controversy involving top political leaders.
