The federal government will not charge a youth who urged the public to "topple" the federal government on Dec 31, 2013 during a rally.
 
According to a press release by attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, prosecutors had considered the circumstances surrounding the matter and the "remorse" shown by suspect before dropping the case.
 
However, Abdul Gani stressed that the suspect had committed a serious offence.
 
"The chambers is satisfied that such incitement is tantamount to breaching the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," said Abdul Gani.
 
Abdul Gani said the suspect had shown remorse and apologised to the public following his 10 days in police detention .
 
"Police investigation revealed that he gained no support at all from his Facebook friends or followers following the call and was instead condemned and criticised for it," he said.
 
"It is noted that he did not attempt to defend himself and in fact relented once he received negative feedback from his followers," he added.
