YOURSAY ‘Alternatively, Hard Nasyid Cafe does have a nice ring to it.’

Minister moots sober Hard Rock Cafe with Nasyid gigs

Ratbatblue: In these difficult times, with skyrocketing prices, religious conflicts and the country being its most divisive since Independence, one in-house comedian is providing some comic relief to us beleaguered citizens.

Why have a Hard Rock Cafe in Putrajaya in the first place? Since the staple music in these joints is rock, the name should be changed to ‘Hard Nasyid Cafe’, then there would be no franchise problems.

Vijay47: Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, or Ku Nan, before you implement your brilliant proposal, I would suggest that you drastically expand the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

I can just imagine the hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists making a beeline to Putrajaya, the latest hub of international entertainment.

And you wonder why Muslims like you are becoming a laughing stock the world over. Others might say you are mocking your own religion.

CHKS: Very funny. Tengku Adnan, who are you to determine how Hard Rock Cafe is run? Hard Rock Cafe is a registered proprietor with international chain. They have their own way of running their business. You might as well just call it ‘Nasyid Cafe’.

Avatar_2397: Since the son of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Mirzan Mahathir, is linked to the San Miguel Corporation, why don't you urge him to manufacture an ‘Islamic’ version of beer to serve in the ‘Islamic’ Hard Rock Cafe Putrajaya?

Sabahan: It’s like asking KFC not to serve chicken. What an idiot. If you disagree with what Hard Rock Cafe serves, just do not issue a licence.

Lim Chong Leong: If so, it would be called ‘Kedai Kopi Mat Rok’. And it would obviously not be part of the Hard Rock franchise.

CiViC: And when business is not good, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak can issue a directive that all government servants in Putrajaya must have at least one meal there each day.

Sirach: What a gem from a man of rare wisdom. The only question is whether the café owners can accommodate the numbers that will surely throng the place when this recommendation is implemented.

SenyumUnta: Yes, agreed. Localise the place with religious elements and call it 'Keras Batu (Hard Rock) Cafe’. They can also introduce some non-alcoholic beer from the Middle East.

YUNoAnon: Even Hard Rock International knows better than to open an outlet in Putrajaya. Forget whatever terms or conditions you want to impose. They've called it, it's not worth their time to even consider the thought of opening one there.

KSD: If that's the case Tengku Adnan, bring in Hooters into Putrajaya too. And while you are at it, find a way to open a casino too. Yes, a casino with the gambling taken out.

Annon77: Tengku Adnan is dumber than he looks. What rubbish to suggest they have a Hard Rock Cafe with Islamic music and no alcohol. I'm still laughing. Surely if Putrajaya doesn't want this kind of venue, then that’s the end of the story. There will be nothing else to say.

Putrajaya is a boring, soulless, shell of a place. That's what it is, so if they want to keep it that way, then by all means continue.

KB Menon: Better still, the rakyat would first like a 'clean' government in Putrajaya. Work on this.

Onyourtoes: Putrajaya is the centre of the universe, everything revolves around it. Dear Ku Nan, please answer me - are we the world’s most confused or hypocritical people?

Changeagent: I have been to Dubai. They have many pubs serving alcohol there. So does Indonesia.

These countries have a larger Muslim population than us but they are more relaxed than us. In the Middle East, they have belly dancing. We can import that since the Arabs have it.

DevilsSlaughter: Please tell business companies not to sell beer when there are Muslims as shareholders, or stop gambling companies from carrying out gambling businesses.

Stop all gambling and amusement centre licences since this is an Islamic country. The neighbouring countries will be more than happy to see this happen.

Well Thats Fantastic: This is why they (figures like Tengku Adnan) are in government service. They would die in the private sector or in any business they are in charge of.

Al-Jiakaliau: Don’t worry, Hard Rock Cafe Putrajaya will be a halal one certified by Jakim, serving air bandung and ais kacang, and wife of the prime minister, Rosmah Mansor, will lead a Nasyid troupe to provide the entertainment.

Changeagent: Tengku Adnan's suggestion to incorporate live nasyid performances is a ‘fantabulous’ idea.

Hard Nasyid Cafe does have a nice ring to it, and sounds even better than Hard Rock. With such clever ideas, Hard Rock doesn't need to be stuck between a 'rock' and a 'hard' place anymore.

Doc: Is this "Visit Malaysia Year 2014" or "Laugh at Malaysia Year 2014"?

Bob: Why are we not talking about price of goods being hiked without control? This issues is a joke from Umno (to divert attention) and why are we falling for this?
