Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman has advised the people not to be alarmed and panicky over the shooting incidents around Kota Kinabalu city late last night which broke the glass panes of several buildings.

Musa, who is also chairperson of the State Security Council, said the public should remain calm because the police were investigating the case thoroughly and monitoring the situation.

"The police are now making further investigation. What is important is that the people do not panic and remain calm. We have confidence in the capability of the security forces in tackling the problem," he said.

Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said that several closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera recordings showed that a group of six teenagers used three vehicles, two of them four-wheel drives, and went on the one-hour shooting spree simultaneously.      

"The suspects went around targeting banks, hotels, beauty saloons, entertainment outlets, offices and fast food restaurants for an hour starting at 11.45pm.

"It involved a total of 13 business premises in Karamunsing, nine in Luyang and three banks in Inanam," he told a press conference here today.
