Perak Man', one of the most complete human skeleton found in Southeast Asia, which is now placed at the Lenggong Archaeology Gallery, will be opened to the public from Feb 15, Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said today.

Since 2010, the skeleton, said to be more than 10,000 years old, was showcased at the National Museum, before it was returned to the Lenggong Valley, Perak, in October last year.

Mohamed Nazri said he believed that the return of Perak Man to the gallery would attract more visitors to the Lenggong Valley.

"Since Lenggong Valley was recognised by Unesco as a World Heritage Site in 2010, the number of visitors has increased to 5,000 a month, from 2,000 previously," he told a media conference after launching the Lenggong Traditional Food Festival in Ipoh today.

He said as of October last year, the Lenggong Archaeology Gallery recorded 37,774 visitors.

He said the gallery would be upgraded with a special area to be reserved for Perak Man.

The plan is to have an exhibition space and an interactive learning centre to enable visitors to understand the life of the Perak Man through information and activities that would be provided, he added.
