Umno executive secretary Abdul Rauf Yusof said PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali has agreed to withdraw his claim that the party is behind the alleged sex tape implicating the latter.

The matter came up for mediation in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur today.

Umno lawyer Hafarizam Harun said High Court judge John Louis O’Hara will preside over the case on Wednesday.

“Yes, he (Mustafa) has agreed to withdraw his statement linking Umno with the video,” Hafarizam added.

However, Mustafa, in a statement quoted by Harakahdaily today, said what he meant was not ‘Umno’ but ‘Umno blogger’.

Mustafa's lawyer Fitri Asmuni disagreed with the word “withdrawal”, saying what Mustafa told Harakahdaily was correct, and that it was just a change in words.

Be that as it may, the matter will be heard by Justice O Hara on Wednesday.

Umno has filed a suit against the PAS secretary-general for linking the party with the sex video allegedly involving Mustafa, which had been circulated in the Internet.

Umno sent a letter of demand to Mustafa for claiming that the Malay nationalist party was behind the video. Mustafa has denied he is the man depicted in the video.

The party has also demanded Mustafa apologises for accusing it to be behind the video. It has since filed a suit naming Mustafa and his lawyer Asmuni Awi to that effect.

The video made its rounds just before the 13th general election.
