DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang has called for a bi-partisan support in the next Parliament session in March, for the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the RM12.5 billion Port Klang Free Zone scandal.

 

Lim said Malaysia has become an international laughing stock as being a “land of mega scandals without criminals” following the withdrawal of the prosecution's charge on former transport minister Chan Kong Choy on Monday and the acquittal of Dr Ling Liong Sik ( right ) in October.

 

“If Najib wants to make corruption a part of Malaysia’s past and not its future, then his administration must re-strategise to consider how to bring the culprits responsible for the RM12.5 billion PKFZ scandal to book, not just the ‘small fry’ but also the ‘sharks’, whether in government or politics.”

“What has the Minister in Prime Minister's Department in charge of governance and integrity, Paul Low, offered in terms of bringing the culprits for the PKFZ scandal to justice - or must the Malaysians taxpayers continue to be the final and only victims in having to pay the price of BN's financial scandals?,” asked the Gelang Patah MP.

 

The veteran DAP leader cited the formation of an RCI is the one last resort left to find out what truly happened with regards to the scandal.

In fact former Port Klang Authority chairperson Lee Hwa Beng has also suggested that the attorney general might as well withdraw all prosecutions connected to this scandal.
