The death toll in the boat mishap in Daro last Saturday rose to 10 today with the recovery of another body from the Lassa River.

The body of a 60-year-old woman, Ibong Rais, was found in Tanjung Bubus, Seberang Daro, at about 9am by villagers helping the search team.

The search team, led by Matu Daro police chief DSP Wagner Lisa Libut, is now looking for a 55-year-old man, the only person still missing.

Five bodies were recovered from the river yesterday.

Last Saturday, a longboat capsized at about 1pm after it was hit by a big wave as it was transporting 27 villagers back to Kampung Tekajong from a wedding reception in Kampung Saai.

Sixteen passengers swam to safety, three women drowned and eight people were reported missing then.

Seven bodies have been recovered so far, bringing the death toll to 10.
