Seventy-seven cars were destroyed at a workshop in a fire that also gutted three other shops in Batu 8, Selayang, near Kuala Lumpur last night, according to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.

Its assistant director of operations, Mohamad Sani Harul, told Bernama 25 cars were saved during the fire which occurred at about 8pm.

He said the department was summoned at 8.08pm and the 12 officers and personnel rushed there in two trucks from the Selayang and Gombak fire stations put out the fire in about an hour.

“An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and the damage,” he said.
