The Sessions Court in George Town today postponed to March 14 for decision of an application by DAP to strike out a lawsuit filed by its former Bagan Luar chairperson, G Asoghan, over his expulsion by the party, which he claimed was unlawful.

Judge Mahmud Abdullah set the date following an application by lawyer Andy Ooi, who appeared on behalf of Karpal Singh, representing the defendants named in the suit, who could not be at the court today as he had to attend to another case at the Federal Court.

Asoghan’s lawyer, V Amareson, did not object to it.

In the suit filed in June last year, Asoghan, 56, had named DAP disciplinary committee chairperson Tan Kok Wai and its secretary, Tai  Sing Piau, as well as its committee members, namely M Kulasegaran, Dr P Ramasamy and Lim Hock Seng, as defendants.

Asoghan claimed that his sacking from DAP was unlawful as the party’s central executive committee (CEC), appointed through an election on Dec 15, 2012, was not recognised by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
