Don’t slam BN until you address local issues, like the special discount on the recent Mercedes Benz purchase, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was told today by Penang MCA Youth.

 

In a statement it urged Lim to clarify this matter and three other issues -the prohibition in the use of 40 religious terms against non-Muslims, the lack of transparency in the deal for for Ikea to construct its outlet in Batu Kawan ( left ), and the shortage of parking coupons.

 

“It is a cowardly act for the DAP led Penang state government to stay evasive and to entertain issues that only benefit DAP, when the state is facing all sorts of local issues.

 

“The people are still waiting for Lim to explain the special discount and the three issues mentioned. The four questions have been thrown to Lim many times but he has continued to remain mum on,” said Penang MCA youth chairperson, Michael Lee.

 

Lee who is also MCA Youth national treasurer said the four issues are closely related to the daily life of Penangites.

 

“There must be a timeframe and resolutions for these matters. I hope that any DAP leader with a clear conscience will tell Lim that to stop stealing the limelight for publicity and sacrificing the interests of the people of Penang,” Lee said.

 

He pledged that Penang MCA Youth will continue to monitor the administration of the Pakatan-led Penang government and speak up and safeguard the rights and benefits of the people.

 

It was reported on Dec 31, that the state government had purchased the Mercedes Benz S300L at an offer price of RM298,263.75.

 

“It is considered to be worth it as Mercedes vehicles are long-lasting and similar to the Mercedes Benz S320L used by former Penang chief minister Koh Tsu Koon, which was purchased on Sept 4, 1995," Penang state financial officer Mokhtar Mohd Jait was quoted to have said.

 

It is also reported that Ikea will open its doors in Penang. A 245 acre piece of land in Batu Kawan has been allocated for this purpose.
