Ready to riot over a piece of vegetable

Perkasa: Kangkung furore can spark May 13 repeat

Jiminy Qrikert: Umno knows it. The Malay NGOs know it. Even the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) knows it. These ultra-right protests by the Malay mobs are simply a mega sandiwara.

They have a big laugh preparing for it. Scream profanities, racial slurs and murderous threats while at it. Then, everyone has a riotous laugh after it is all over. You can almost see the bemused IGP (inspector-general of police) and his officers smirking while observing these protests.

It is all a joke meant to work Malay emotions into a frenzy to feed their ketuanan sensibilities. The mob is a controlled mob. They know the Chinese will not retaliate physically. The PDRM, while highly bemused, are there to contain the crowd and prevent a spillover to the larger Malay community.

Unlike 513-69 (May 13, 1969), there is no amassing of weapons and no plans to march beyond the protest venue. It is a song and dance teasing of the Malay emotions. Tiresome re-runs. Ineffective but highly melodramatic. Hidup Melayu.

Quigonbond: I think the poignant question to ask is - what can’t trigger another May 13 in the eyes of Perkasa?

They are or pretend to be hyper-sensitive and violently aggressive overgrown pests trying to pass off as men. They care little about their own credibility as much as their mandate to provoke.

Changeagent: Perkasa leaders trying to gain mileage again. Sadly on the wrong front. You should work on reducing people's burden, not getting angry.

You are right when you say people disrespect PM Najib Razak. By right he should be highly respected after all he won the elections just some six months ago.

Yet your own Umno guys are whacking him. Why don't you try to threaten the Umno leaders first?

Corgito Ergo Sum: And how will it become another May 13? Chinese and Indians are not itching for a fight. In fact, it’s the opposite. They want peace so that they can focus on the economy.

If Perkasa wants a fight, go fight among yourselves. Leave the rest of us out of it.

Awakened: Perkasa leaders seems to have forgotten that the Dec 31 rally was attended by mostly Malays. The demonstrators were also showing unhappiness to the PM for the price hikes.

Besides, there were numerous comments on the alternative media ridiculing PM for his kangkung example. What has this to do with May 13?

Not Confused: The kangkung "furore" is not, and will never be, an issue about race. Perkasa once again, is playing this up as a race issue, when it is simply a protest about the rising cost of living.

Najib brought this issue by his own stupidity and lack of common sense in using the kangkung as an example of how prices rise and fall due to government actions.

Perkasa is now suggesting another May 13. So were the Malays responsible in 1969?

Anonymous #039163649: If there is going to be racial riots in Malaysia about kangkung, then surely Malaysia is a kangkung country where a problem of increased prices actually leads to common people fighting, while leaders enrich themselves.

When previously the Chinese education groups protested the teaching of maths and science from Standard 1, the issue also turned racial.

In the end, it is the Malay kampung students who suffered most from the policy and the Education Ministry is now trying to back track on it.

Pemerhati: The Umno leadership will not be averse to starting another May 13 if it felt that it was going to lose power. This is simply because they know that they have committed crimes which can put them in jail for a long time.

Most of them are corrupt and have stolen large sums of money. Some have committed crimes such as murder and rape.

Perkasa, which is financed by Umno, does Umno’s dirty work of creating racial tension, which will be very useful in starting race riots if BN loses the next elections.

James1067: This is not 1969 and times have changed. If violence occurs, the investors and those with money stashed away overseas will just walk away. Thousands will be jobless and it will take years for this nation to rebuilt itself.

So let’s not fall in to the hole that these selfish politicians have started to dig. These selfish criminals who intend to protect their crimes. Let us be rational in our thinking and protect our nation from being destroyed.

CQ Muar: PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), where are you all hiding? Don't you reckon Perkasa's Muhammad Zahid Md Arip ought to be hauled up for questioning for making such seditious and inflammable remarks?

Why the double standard (just because they are stooges of Umno)? Are you all not defenders of the rakyat regardless of race? Are you men of integrity or slaves of the ruling government?

We urge you to act accordingly - let justice prevail and treat everyone without discrimination. Be fair to all.
