Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has disagreed with the actions of his own supporters in stepping on a Japanese flag while demonstrating in front of the Japanese embassy over Anwar's barred entry into Japan.

In a press conference today, Anwar said that while he respected the rights of the PKR Youth - who organised the demonstration - to express itself, he did not agree with the acts of some of its supporters in stepping on the flag.

"I don't think such an act is necessary," he said.

PKR Youth has since denied that the individuals involved were its members.

Meanwhile, Anwar also disagreed with the actions of his own party members for gathering in front of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) in solidarity with the two PKNS senior staff who were transferred by the state government following the controversy surrounding state PKR chief Azmin Ali's removal from the firm’s board.

"I don't think it is necessary to do something like that. In the party, we have decorum, we have channels," he said.

"They could use proper channels to express their objection, but you must be fair; listen to the state government's explanation first," he stressed.

The state government has currently ordered a probe on the matter.
