A police report has been filed by a property developer calling for protection against a planned protest by Malay Rights group Perkasa in relation to the controversy surrounding the ‘tudung’ singer incident.

According to a copy of the report obtained by Malaysiakini , property developer Castmet Sdn Bhd has alleged it received calls from unidentified groups informing them that the NGO plans to hold a demonstration in front of the company’s office on January 24, after Friday prayers.

This is possibly in response against allegations the company had discriminated against singer Marinatasha Isnariah Mustapar ( left , centre in photo ) for wearing a 'tudung' when performing at its corporate event last Saturday.

Threats were also issued to a Castmet manager and the complainant said that the company was worried for the safety of its staff.

A Perkasa official, however, declined to comment when contacted.

The controversy was sparked after Marinatasha first filed a police report on the incident at the Sentul police station at 2.40am on Jan 19. She later followed it up with a press conference , saying that she felt "vilified and humiliated."

Castmet managers later filed a counterclaim police report that Marinatasha was only a replacement singer whom, following a preview session, had decided against hiring.

The company had stated that it wanted a singer who could mingle and interact with the guests and their preferred choice was ex-Akademi Fantasia winner Farina, who did perform at the Cashmet’s annual dinner at Sime Darby Convention Centre that night.
