The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will summon a former secretary-general and two former National Film Development Corporation (Finas) director-generals over the Auditor-General’s Report 2012 that cited its poor financial management from 2009 to 2012.

They are former Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Kamaruddin Siaraf and former Finas director-generals, Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim and Mohd Naguib Raza.

PAC chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed ( left ) said from 2009 to 2011, the National Audit Department found that Finas financial management was unsatisfactory while in 2012 it was issued with a qualified certificate which meant the department refused to accept and verify its accounts.

"This is a very serious offence and among the failures cited were weaknesses in management control, budgets, (transaction) acceptance, expenditures and trust account which I feel encompass Finas entire operation," he added.

He was speaking to reporters after meeting Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Abd Rahim Mohd Radzi and Finas director-general Raja Rozaime Raja Dalnish Shah at Parliament house in Kuala Lumpur today.

Nur Jazlan said the PAC would also summon Finance Ministry officials sitting as Finas board members from 2009 to 2012 to clarify on issues raised in the A-G's Report.

"As Finance Ministry representatives, they should have taken measures early on if there were discrepancies in Finas management as the money came from the ministry.

"The representatives should have informed the ministry so that action can be taken immediately, but they let it persisted from 2009 until finally the National Audit Department rejected Finas financial reports in 2012," he said.
