The prices of daily food items such as chicken, meat, fish and vegetables differ according to the category of business premises nationwide.        

Based on today's price list in Kuala Lumpur issued by http://www.1pengguna.com standard dressed chicken is sold between RM5.98 and RM9.90 per kilogramme (kg) in supermarkets while live chicken was RM6.40 to RM7.20 per kg at all wet markets.        

In Sabah supermarkets standard dressed chicken was RM8.20 to RM9.60 per kg whereas wet markets sold it between RM8.50 and RM10.50.       

In Sarawak wet markets, live chicken was from RM6.70 to RM8.50 per kg and local beef RM20 to RM28.       

Johor wet markets priced local mutton between RM14 and RM32 per kg while local beef was at RM18 to RM22 in supermarkets.        

Over in Selangor medium sized 'cencaru' fish was selling between RM6 and RM12.90 per kg in wet markets while supermarkets priced them from RM5.99 to RM10.59.      

The portal listed big red onions (India) from between RM2 and RM4 per kg in all Kedah wet markets but RM1.50 to RM3.90 in the supermarkets there.        

The price of garlic (China) was from RM2.38 to RM5 per kg in the state's supermarkets but RM3.50 to RM7 in its wet markets.       

On the east coast, wet markets in Kelantan tagged ladies finger between RM4 and RM10 per kg and red chilies from RM9 to RM15 state wide, but the same items were priced from RM4.99 to RM12.90 and RM6.49 to RM20 in the supermarkets.        

Up north in Penang, green spinach was from RM0.38 to RM1.50 per bunch in the supermarkets but RM0.45 to RM4 per bunch at the wet markets.      

Coconut milk in Penang cost between RM6.50 and RM10 per kg in the wet markets but RM7 in supermarkets.       

The public may use the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism's special portal to check daily prices.       

Complaints on indiscriminate price hikes may also be made via the Ministry's hotline 1800-886-800 or completing a form at the portal.
