The Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation (YDSM) today denied reports that it was organising the visit of Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said to Antarctica.
Its executive secretary, Mohd Azrul Ismail, said the foundation was only involved in charity work to help raise the socio-economic standard and well-being of the people.
“The visit is not organised by YDSM and it is not linked to the foundation’s programme,” it said in a statement today.
On Jan 15, a local daily reported that Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said would be heading a visit the Antarctica for 15 days organised by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry through the initiative of the foundation.
The statement issued by Terengganu Menteri Besar’s office said the visit was aimed at paving the way for the government to set up a research station with Instituto Antartico Chileno (INACH).
