Kajang assemblyperson Lee Chin Cheh has denied speculation that he had fed misinformation to a Chinese-language daily that Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has resigned.

“Many have asked me on this. It could not me because I have nothing to do with such information. It does not make sense because I am not a central executive committee (MPP) member and I don’t work at the menteri besar’s office.

“Since I am not an MPP member, I don’t go to their meetings. I don’t know what happens inside, why would the paper use my statement?” he was quoted as saying in Malay-language daily Sinar Harian today.

The report did not name the Chinese-language daily involved, but likely was referring to Sin Chew Daily , which sent the erroneous report by text message on Thursday and later apologised.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said today that he has no plans to take legal action against the daily, but demanded an explanation over the fiasco.
