‘Tanda Putera’, a film produced by Pesona Pictures, is among four Malaysian feature films that will be making their international debut at the European Film Market in Berlin, Germany next week.
The others are ‘Laga’ produced by Business Leader Film Production, ‘The Great Lion Kun Seng Keng’ (Asia Tropical Film) and ‘Amir dan Loqman Pergi ke Laut’ (Astro Shaw), said Creative Content Association of Malaysia (CCAM) chief executive officer Mahyidin Mustakim.
The screening of the films, organised and represented by CCAM, is from Feb 7 to 9 at the various cinemas in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.
“These are exceptional feature films, made with care and passion which all Malaysians should be proud of in celebrating the diversity of their content and having excellent production quality.
“To have a film screened at a pretigious film market where international industry professionals participate, speaks volumes, and both filmmakers, as well as the entertainment industry should rejoice at this feat,” he said.
Mahyidin said this will be the film market with the highest number of films represented by CCAM since its formation in 2012, and hoped to keep up with the momentum set in this market and see more worthy films which CCAM can represent in screening at futures film market.
The European Film Market also signifies the importance of good, quality films with content that are not just accessible to the world audience but also marketable, thus ensuring penetration at the global market.
“This is an exercise that is both viable and profitable to the film producers,” Mahyidin said.
CCAM, which is a MyCreative Content Entry Point Project (EPP) being implemented under the Economic Transformation Program (ETP) for the Communications, Content and Infrastructure (CCI) sector, is an association that represents local creative industry players.
Its objectives are promoting and exporting local content and creative services to overseas markets and international broadcasters.
