Wanita MCA today slammed Anwar Ibrahim for forcing the Kajang by-election to allow him to be a Selangor state assemblyperson.

As the Pakatan parliamentary opposition leader and the PKR de facto leader, Anwar doesn’t need to be a state rep if his intention is to assist the Selangor MB or Pakatan, said MCA chief Heng Seai Kie ( right ).

“This is like the prime minister holding a seat in all the states to solve their problems,” she added.

Heng warned that a win for the opposition leader could cultivate an unhealthy political culture in which parties could treat electorates as their own "private property".

She said Anwar’s excuse that he is stepping in to assist in particular the issue of the Selangor Islamic Department’s seizure of Malay language Bibles, was impossible to accept.

 

For Heng, the main issue was that PKR and Anwar, for their political agenda, had bullied incumbent Lee Chin Cheh, to step down.

“Anwar is purposely conjuring a by-election which disrespects the entire democratic process. In 2008, Anwar victimised his wife Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail) and rebuffed the rise of women as lawmakers by forcing her to vacate Permatang Pauh,” said Heng.

 

 “This is the second time Anwar has forced PKR incumbents to vacate their seats.

"If Anwar wins again, this will cultivate an unhealthy political culture, where any political party can just treat the electorate as their own private property,” the MCA Wanita chief warned.

 

She further asked how could PKR resolve national issues when it could not even rectify its domestic rifts.

 

“I urge Kajang voters to see through Pakatan’s tricks, say 'no' in this by-election and stop this sort of unhealthy political culture,” she asserted.
