DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has challenged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to invite DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok to screen her Chinese New Year satire video at the cabinet meeting tomorrow.

This follows allegations that the video lampooned the Lahad Datu tragedy.

Kok has denied this accusation levelled against her by Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal.

Lim said in a statement today that Shafie, nor Multimedia and Communications Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who said the video was "annoying", could not have understood the video first hand as it was in Cantonese and Mandarin.

"Before more Umno ministers make fools of themselves, I seriously suggest that  the Prime Minister, Najib Razak should invite Teresa Kok to screen her 11-minute video “Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014” and to give proper translation of the Cantonese-Mandarin dialogue," Lim said.

Kok had earlier demanded an apology from Shafie and a MCA parliamentarianfor their “false allegations” that she had mocked the Lahad Datu intrusion in her satirical Chinese New Year video.

Shafie (right) and the MCA's Alor Gajah MP Koh Nai Kwong are among those who have criticised Kok for the ‘offensive’ content of the 'Onederful Malaysia CNY2014' video uploaded on social media on Jan 27.

"While many Malaysians have enjoyed my satirical video with a good sense of humour, there are some racial bigots who have made false and malicious allegations against me," she said in a statement today.

She said that the “most sickening” allegation was that she had said the words Malay Si ( Melayu mati ) in the video.

"What I said was Ma lai sai le ah . Ma lai simply means kuda datang (the horse is coming), while sai lei ah means sungguh hebat (excellent)," she clarified.

"I have produced a satirical video which is totally acceptable in a democracy. For those who do not agree with the issues raised, they can voice their disagreement via dialogue.

"I also wish to remind MCA leaders that if they are unable to accept political satire and freedom of expression in a democracy, they should at least not become political parrots of racial bigots and extremists.”

Kok also trained her sights on Wanita MCA chief Heng Seai Kie (right) , saying that her call to the authorities to block access to the video is tantamount to “stupidity”.

"It is her problem if she cannot accept political satire. But why should she act like a parrot and echo the racial bigots’ line?" Kok asked, challenging Heng to prove which parts of the video are ‘detrimental’ to national unity.

The 11.39-minute video portrays Kok as a feng shui host interviewing three panelists for their predictions on the lunar new year - the Year of the Horse.

The panelists poked fun on issues such as the education system and the recent kidnapping at Pulau Pom Pom off Sabah.

The police are looking into the matter, Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said, according to a Bernama report.
