Anwar: What I would do as S'gor MB

Ketuanan Rakyat: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, turn the Kajang by-election into a referendum on Premier Najib Abdul Razak's poor performance since the last general election.

Khalid Ibrahim should be retained as MB for his impressive performance. Control PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, please, before further damage is done. Malaysians will support Pakatan Rakyat if you remain open-minded.

Hcleong: Is it possible to create a deputy MB post so that Khalid remains the administrative chief and Anwar does the political part? Will that be a way to strengthen Selangor yet giving Anwar a chance to lead the state?

Sodom Me Sodom You: This move is a great opportunity for Anwar to truly prove his political and administrative ability in running the richest state in Malaysia.

Although shocked at first, I now see the many dimensions of thought that has gone into this move and how it will be useful to the rakyat.

Cry, My Beloved Country: Given the current prevarication and equivocation, the inability or unwillingness to enforce an agreement accepted in good faith, the political leadership of an opposition state subject to political attacks and challenges on a daily basis, predicates a mastery of the cut and thrust of political infighting.

The MB of Selangor has done excellently well in governance, and so he will agree that there is no option but the strengthening of the political leadership to take on possibly bigger politically-mounted challenges aimed at destabilising the state.

Touche: For whatever reason, we must not allow Umno to take over Selangor through unethical means.

Yes, Umno will want to take back Selangor at any cost, even if lives are lost. That is how brutal and ruthless Umno is.

Corgito Ergo Sum: Anwar, you are quite transparent and forthright in your explanation. What the nation needs is someone to unify it against the backdrop of religious and racial bigotry, price hikes and unfair policies. Are you the man?

SusahKes: Hmm... why do the Christians need to give you any form of guarantee regarding the bibles?

Haven't they endorsed the 10-point solution? What would you want next, when Umno stirs the waters again? For Christians to swear under fear of punishment?

How about giving them a written guarantee - that they won't be targeted for unnecessary raids at the whims and fancies of some state apparatus?

But what's the use of anything that comes out of the mouths of politicians these days?

Hang Tuah PJ: Anwar, why ask the Christians to promise? Just go by the federal constitution and change the SOP (standard operating procedure) of Jais/Mais so that they cannot intervene in non-Muslim religious matters and that they can be prosecuted in a civil court for violating the rights of non-Muslims, as guaranteed by the federal constitution.

Damntlwbn: Hang Tuah PJ, didn’t you know our politics is not as straight forward as that?

If Anwar does that, Umno will twist and turn and play with the emotions of the Malays and we will never rid BN without the support from the Malays as Malay votes are crucial if Pakatan is to form the next government.

Fair Play: Politics is the art of the possible. Bitter as it might sound to some of Anwar’s detractors, but he is talking about harsh ground reality as a seasoned politician.

MB Khalid, through his prudent financial management, has accumulated a cash pile of RM3 billion. This sum, if used properly, would raise the profile of Pakatan as a credible long-term replacement to BN-Umno, first at the state level and next at the federal level.

But sacrifices have to be made. It's just unfortunate that Khalid is the first one, because only through his efficiency as shown by the cash pile, could this long-term strategy be made possible.

But he would get a place at the federal level in the larger scheme of things in Pakatan. For now, patience is the name of the game that Khalid should take into consideration at this point in his political career.

BTN: Khalid has done a great job in Selangor and should be commended for it. This is the time to make tough decision and to put the final piece of the jigsaw into place.

Will the final picture show Anwar as new leader for us all? We can only pray that it’s him.

Fernz: “If I become MB,” he said, raising his voice on 'if', “it will be until I become prime minister.” That's a good one.

But I doubt that Anwar will become MB. Anwar once told me: "We must determine and dictate the agenda."

Kajang is part of that process. But if he becomes MB, how's he going to determine and dictate the national agenda? The MB's post needs a worker. Anwar is not the worker-type.

Anwar's only noted quality is to stand up and make a good speech and sit down just as suddenly. It's the people around him who do the organising, the work, and the running around. He doesn't get into the nitty gritty details.

Anonymous_4056: Whatever Anwar has decided we will support without reservation and without hesitation. We are all behind you Anwar. We will be in Kajang to help out in our own little ways.

Together, we will be on our way to Putrajaya, saving the country for our children's sake. Let us all chip in to save Malaysia from racism and corruption.

Anonnona: We can be sure that until the Kajang election is over, all the extremists will be lying very low and we will have some peace. The politicians will be concentrating their efforts on character assassination.

My4Hope: Let this by-election again recharge the hopes and spirits of Pakatan supporters towards a slightly brighter Malaysia after 505, making the ‘Kajang Move’ a turning point to strengthen Pakatan against the evil corrupted regime.
