A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilot is to appear before the military court tomorrow on seven counts of filing complaints on the indelible ink used during the 13th general election last year.

Major Zaidi Ahmad ( right ) told state media SelangorKini that he received the military court order on Feb 4 and will have to appear at the RMAF court complex at the Kuala Lumpur Air Base tomorrow.

Five of the charges are under Section 50 (2) of the Armed Forces Act 1972, which deals with non-compliance with an order from a superior officer, for which the punishment upon conviction is a jail term of not more than two years.

The other two charges involve Section 51 of the same Act, which deals with non-compliance with a permanent command. This is also punishable with imprisonment of up to two years.

All the charges against Zaidi are related to an offence he allegedly committed on May 1, 2013, at two different locations - the Kepala Batas district police headquarters and at the RMAF Butterworth Air Base.

Contacted by SelangorKini , Zaidi said he was the commanding officer of the No 12 Squadron (comprising F-5 jets), but was stripped of his position after making a police report that the indelible ink used by the Election Commission (EC) on polling day was not permanent as it should be.

Until now, he has not been allowed to fly, even though he still receives his salary and allowances as usual.
