EC incapable of being honest, free and fair
YOURSAY ‘The reasons given by the EC are mind-boggling. But this is not unexpected.’
Ambiga ticks off EC, all by-elections unexpected
Hermit: The way Election Commission (EC) chief Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof handles the Kajang by-election has shattered whatever integrity and independence left in him.
My standard four son could tell straight into his face that by-elections are always unexpected. Probably you're telling the whole world that you have been caught with your pants down for unable to manipulate the election in favour of BN.
Anyway, a gap of almost two months is more than enough for you to write the script deems fitting your inner soul.
Ferdtan: Apart from the inability to find a suitable candidate to challenge Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, here are the other possible reasons.
1. EC has not enough time to ‘engineer’ the transfer of police, soldiers and their families to the Kajang constituency. They are usually BN deposit votes. They will vote in advance and many through postal votes.
The system of such voting always favours BN - as there is no way Pakatan can monitor the voting integrity. Expect more temporary army camps (tents will be built in hundreds) being set up in Kajang.
2. EC has not enough time to study the electoral roll to ‘put’ BN in advantage. As found in the past, we expect phantom voters to appear.
Possibly there will be some voters from the opposition areas in Kajang (based on 2013 GE stream voting record) who will disappear from the rolls - in spite of having voted in recent general election.
3. Umno has not resolved their internal fighting between the right-wing (former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s faction) and PM Najib Razak’s clique. Peace talk must be held and this is not going to be easy. It takes time, compounded by Najib’s weak political position.
4. Since Anwar is contesting in the by-election, a bigger plan (more time needed to form the powerful secret key group) have to be strategised.
Rumours in the past had always pointed out that they were usually made up of top officers from police (Special Branch), army (intelligence unit), and civil servants (possibly including EC officers). Of course, Umno representatives and paid consultants would be included.
5. Finally, negative videos (what else but sex) have not been scripted and the actor (an Anwar lookalike) and pretty actresses from either Thailand or China have not been found due of the unexpected by-election and the surprised candidate - Anwar.
Toffeesturn: EC chief Abdul Aziz is a lackey on a leash of this government. He will swallow his pride, shame himself and do the most ridiculous things that no decent human being will do just to please his political masters.
Hasn't that become overwhelmingly evident already?
Bystander: What does the EC expect of a by-election? Must it be given due notice before a by-election can be called?
The mere fact that Abdul Aziz pushed it back to almost the time frame permitted already proved that he is biased. What lame excuse?
When Abu Hassan Omar forced two by-elections to take over the post of MB, why didn't the then EC chief say it was also not expected? It was done within a month if I remember correctly.
Mushiro: The reasons given by the EC for pushing the polling day close to the 60-day deadline are mind-boggling. But this is not unexpected. They are just not capable of being honest, free and fair.
Hero325: There is no basis to attack the EC as long as it is within the 60-day time-frame. The EC has acted within its powers, former Bersih chief S Ambiga should not talk like she is the EC chief.
Louis: Abdul Aziz, how did you get such big job? Where on this planet earth, do you find by-election that is expected? You sound more like a clown.
Anonymous_1371515574: I don't know what to say about this country anymore... This sort of conduct is like robbery in plain sight and no one can do anything about it.
Such a display of bias from the EC chief confirms again that he is nothing more than a puppet of the ruling government.
Negarawan: It's all about Umno's low confidence level. Umno wants more time to settle the in-fighting for candidate and to create campaign material to assassinate Anwar's character.
Umno may even hire its party president's stepson to make another Hollywood-style pornographic movie, this time with CGI to make Anwar look as real as possible.
Gunnerrun: Need more time to hatch an insidious plan involving smut and scandals to dupe the good folks of Kajang?
Again and again, Umno appears to get away with anything, they break laws as and when things do not seem to favour them. There's just no words for them, they're beneath everything and anything decent.
Armageddon: Despite of all these, the EC chief still got the cheek to claim that the commission is an independent body.
