Government owned RTM has been urged by the Federation of Film Artistes Association (Gafim) to review its suspension of sitcom ‘88 Kopitiam’.

 

Gafim president,Jurey Latif said there was only one person from the sitcom involved in Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s Chinese New Year video.

 

“If the (sitcom’s) content is good, hopefully, RTM can continue its broadcast,” Jurey was quoted in The Star , adding investigations on the actor should be fair.

 

It was reported on Saturday that RTM's director of broadcasting, Norhayati Ismail, ( right ) said the sitcom is suspended pending investigations, as it does not want any of its programmes linked to the actor who had tainted the name or image of the country.

In another statement, Gerakan Media Marah (Geramm) said the suspension is akin to punishing the cast of the Kopitiam 88 show before the probe is completed.

 

There have been many police reports on Kok's Chinese New Year video as some have found it offensive.

A Muslim non-governmental organisation has even offered a monetary reward to slap the lawmaker.
