M'sia following Myanmar in persecuting comedians
YOURSAY ‘Why persecute actors/actresses? They are just paid to do a job.’
Actress in Teresa's video summoned by police
Negarawan: Did the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) summon Rosmah Mansor's son Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz for making a sexually explicit and highly immoral movie ?
I think the PDRM is acting like the Gestapo for Umno, which is increasingly becoming fascist. Our crime rate is increasing and the PDRM is focusing on non-issues such as punishing opposition politicians.
This unjust act by the PDRM should be condemned by all fair-minded Malaysians.
Anonymous #58458950: Why persecute actors/actresses? They are just paid to do a job. Every job is money to put food on the table.
Oriole: Years ago, Myanmar or Burma was the laughing stock of the world for persecuting its stand-up comedians for perceived insults against their pompous leaders, all puffed up with a sense of their importance and arrogance.
It looks like Malaysia is set to follow in the footsteps of Burma at its worst.
Prudent: Actress Lim Ching Miau, you are right to be worried even though you are being called as a witness.
Remember what happened to political aide Teoh Beng Hock? Please bring your lawyer with you. Integrity Minister Paul Low, can you help protect her, please?
Jaguh: Anyone who is 'round' and has a mountain of hair is presumed to be impersonating PM’s wife Rosmah Mansor.
So all ladies of this description, either go lose some weight or go into hiding. If you open your mouth, you are bad-mouthing ‘Mama-PM’.
YF: It is strange to see that Lim Ching Miau is being targeted. Are her persecutors assuming she is referring to someone they know? Then why don’t they question themselves, then?
Anonymous_3f6d: Oh My God (OMG), the PDRM will summon Michelle Yeoh soon for portraying Aung San Suu Kyi, while muggers and robbers are roaming freely all over the whole of Malaysia.
Ketuanan Rakyat: Only in Umnoputra land such things happen. Urgent and important matters affecting the public are not attended to, but those suppose to be related to the alleged Fat or First Lady of Malaysia (FLOM) will get immediate attention.
Good, let the case come up to court and we can get more information on FLOM and her super-duper rich son.
Fair Play: PDRM must be seen to be performing their duties since complaints had been lodged. But I doubt that any charge would be preferred since the extreme right groups had done far worse, like issuing thinly-veiled threats.
Doc: A church was hit with Molotov cocktails, opposition politicians threatened with slapping, and a ‘balai polis’ (police station) ‘bombed’.
All these are not considered high-priority cases worthy of PDRM's attention, but one woman making jokes on YouTube, ah, that is considered an issue of national importance which has caused our boys in blue jump into action with gusto.
Seriously, our PDRM are a confused lot.
Haveagreatday: For heaven’s sake, don't the police here have real police work to do rather than intimidating the ordinary rakyat.
An actual criminal intimidation against a lawmaker, albeit from the opposition, was made publicly, yet we have the police acting like meek mice here.
Actors and actresses earning a decent living are being harassed just because they acted in a video deemed offensive to the powers-that-be.
Oilman: I find it absolutely hilarious that the PDRM is now going after the actress that portrayed ‘big mama’.
It is even more rib-tickling that the actress appears to be unperturbed as shown by Lim Ching Miau’s comments, "I imitated Lydia Shum and I don't know how I ended up becoming Rosmah."
I am laughing so hard my tears are flowing freely. Way to go, spunky lady, you have my fullest admiration.
CiViC: Next time don't waste time and money making videos or such, just offer money to slap some ministers. That works better.
Sinner: Do the police want to take my statement, too? I watched that video clip . And I love it!
Anonymous_40c3: Lim, your size was a dead giveaway. Anyway, the laws of Malaysia says you have committed an offence for imitating a fat woman.
Onyourtoes: You get more harassment if you criticise the PM and his wife than if you had committed sedition against race, religion, royalty (the 3 Rs), which now rank lower than one fat R.
