Zaid to contest in Kajang if wife says yes

Ferdtan: Zaid Ibrahim, you have the democratic right to contest in the Kajang by-election, with or without your wife’s expressed permission. No one can stop you from doing so but do you think you can win?

It’s a fool’s errand; and you are certainly no fool. The consequence is that by contesting you become a spoiler taking away valuable votes from the opposition.

The mere fact you are only calling the Chinese voters (make-up of 41 percent) to vote for you, and not the 48 percent Malays to back you up smell ill-intent on your part. When you take part in an election, don’t you want to win as well?  

Why are you not interested in the Malay votes? Are you afraid that some clueless Malay votes meant for BN may vote for you, thus adversely impacting BN? Zaid, what is your agenda?

Hermit: Zaid is on a fishing trip. If he is lucky enough, he will strike with a whale. The whale is surely PM Najib Abdul Razak, whom Zaid will go all out to protect him against extremism.

And Zaid is smart to equate himself with Najib who places his spouse above everything. Even Najib has not gone to the extreme that he has had the sanction of Rosmah Mansor to contest in Pekan, probably just a blessing.

SS Dhaliwal: Zaid, if you contest, you will have lost all credibility and respect you have gained thus far.

The only motive I can see here other than being a spoilt sport is trying to sabotage DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim), although I doubt it will have much effect on the inevitable outcome.

Fair Play: Rather than make a comment (for or against), it’s better let the voters who have a say in the Kajang by-election decide the type of person that Zaid really is.

Real Truth: Zaid, this is a state election, what can you contribute as Adun (state assemblyperson) and that too a single member in the Selangor assembly. Don’t waste your time and ours. At least, Anwar has an agenda to fight in Kajang.

Onyourtoes: To some, they think politics is their Disneyland. Zaid, I think most of the people in this country need no further explanation on issues. What you know which we don’t?

What we want to know is what can you do to the issues confronting us? What is the purpose of you contesting really? If you win, what can you do? You are not even a team player.   

Odin: Zaid, if my wife permits it, I'll make a space flight to Mars to identify locations suitable for human habitation.

At the rate Earth's population increases, there won't be enough space on this planet by 2110 or thereabouts, and very many earthlings will have to emigrate. The thing is, Zaid, I don't have a wife.

Anonymous_3f4b: Go for it, Zaid. The people need a third voice and third force after the dismal politics of Pakatan and the unfriendly policies of BN.

SusahKes: So Zaid wants to have a go - what's wrong? The entire ‘Kajangate move’ has proven that PKR also has the ability to spin.

And if Zaid comes in just to keep the PKR bunch in tow - even in some small measure - then go for it, Zaid. Now watch how PKR and its team spin it. The only difference, they won't be doing it through Utusan Malaysia or TV3 .

Mushiro: Zaid got a big list of 'to dos' for a one-man party. He has proven himself to be a rolling stone - not able to stick to any party, which means Zaid has no skills of team and leadership.

His wealth are courtesy of Umno where his law firm favourably got many Umno government contracts. So what is the difference between Zaid and Umno ?

Hank Marvin: Zaid, when PKR fielded you in Hulu Selangor you squandered the opportunity. You were cocky and unfriendly to voters.

PAS leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat took the trouble to defend you. And eventually you created havoc in the party and left.

Enough is enough, Zaid. You are not needed. The writing is on the wall. Don't waste our time.

Appum: Zaid, I have always respected your views, opinions and principles. But I think this battle is best left to the two big elephants to fight it out and let the people show whether they are still with the government or opposition.

Your views and direction is not different from the opposition’s objectives. Certainly, you have the right to contest but brother, timing is most important in political survival.

If you are acting out of anger/revenge and not out of political wisdom and stature, then you are going to be embarrassed big time.

Save your grace for a more meaningful battle and you don't want to go to a fight which is a sure defeat. Don't waste your time, energy and money for a predictable outcome so obvious.

We know your cause is right and virtuous but your timing of implementation is not right now. Like the Malay saying goes,"When the elephants fight, the ants get trampled on and die".

WDA: Zaid seemed to only recently sympathise with Anwar for being ridiculed by the mainstream media for contesting in the Kajang by-election. Now he wants to contest against Anwar?

Zaid seemed to indicate that he wants to take advantage of the by-election platform to express and get feedback on some of his ideas. He knows that his chances of winning is very slim. If he cannot beat P Kamalanathan in Hulu Selangor, there is no way he is going to beat Anwar in Kajang.

What he can do is take away some votes from Anwar and may result in the latter's defeat. Even without Zaid contesting, it is very possible that PAS may sabotage Anwar to create a two-seat advantage over PKR in the state assembly so that they can have a stronger claim for the MB seat.

Some of PKR and DAP supporters who voted for Pakatan in 2013 may vote for BN because they are really happy with current MB. Khalid, and knowing that Anwar's defeat will not impact Pakatan's position in Selangor. So Zaid, what is really your motive here?

Sekarang: Zaid, If you had not done the simple research, I have. I have read 103 comments from Malaysiakini , 38 from Malaysian Chronicle and 48 from Free Malaysia Today ( FMT ).

Verdict: 185 - 4: 185 condemning your consideration but only four for you.

With verdict like this, if you still forged ahead and contest the Kajang by-election, you would have confirmed the public’s suspicion that you were not there to win but to achieve certain unsavoury motive.

I think, if your wife had also researched the commentaries, she would likewise advise you not to run. It would be 186 - 4.
