PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar says BN will be “bullying” MCA if it allows the component party to contest in the Kajang by-election on March 23.

It is Umno, Mahfuz said, that should send a candidate to contest against two other Malays - PKR's Anwar Ibrahim and lawyer-turned-politician Zaid Ibrahim, who will stand as an Independent .

Mahfuz said MCA has lost Chinese support and that making its candidate stand in the election would be akin to "bullying" the party.

"Yesterday, Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan himself asked his party leadership to make a decision.

"I urge the Umno leadership to contest the seat against Anwar and Zaid," Mahfuz told a press conference today.

He said he has no problem about Zaid contesting the seat in the spirit of democracy.

"However PAS will act to support the victory of the Pakatan Rakyat candidate, Anwar," Mahfuz added.

Meanwhile on a seperate matter PAS' Batu Burok assemblyperson Dr Syed Azman Syed Nawawi ( left ) said he had been called for a meeting with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Abu Kassim Mohamed on Friday to produce reports on alleged corruption in Terengganu.

A member of the Terengganu royal family will accompany the group of two PAS assemblypersons and one parliamentarian, all from the east coast state.

They are to hand over information on corruption and wastage in the logging and mining sectors, on the Kenyir lake issue, and changes to the Pasar Payang market.
